Adult Literacy Overview
Adult Literacy- Basic Literacy

Who:
Adult students with a variety of goals; learning to read for the first time,
improving their reading ability, helping their children/grandchildren
with homework, understanding more about their jobs or preparing for a
GED program.
What:
Students and tutors working twice per week to reach individual goals.
When:
Monday-Friday 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Minimum commitment: One and a half hours twice per week.
One to one learning arrangements are made
specific to student's needs as they relate to time and location.
Sessions usually take place once-twice a week, in either the morning,
afternoon, or evening.

Adult Literacy- GED Small Group Class

What: In addition to our one-on-one basic literacy tutoring, we have a small group GED class.
Who:
AL-GED Students: Adult students reading above a 7th grade reading level equivalence can enroll in this class.
AL-GED Tutors: Volunteer tutors work closely with a lead volunteer instructor to assist in class.
When: 6:30-8pm (time may change-TBA) / once a week (T,W,orTh-TBA)

Adult Literacy Program Goals:
- To teach students in a one to one or small group setting to best serve student's individual needs
- To engage students in achieving goals including learning the alphabet, learning
to read for the first time, helping children and grandchildren with
homework, learning to read their Bibles, having companionship as they
learn to read, preparing for the GED. - To partner tutors with beginning and continuing readers, and GED ready students to achieve individual
student goals as they relate to reading development.
