DLC Students on NPR
Submitted by rebecca on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 3:50pm.Two dedicated Durham Literacy Center students, Lucy and Kiasha Collins, shared their inspiring stories on the nationally syndicated radio show, The Story, on January 5, 2009. Kiasha enrolled in the DLC's Adult Literacy program over a year ago and then encouraged her grandmother, Lucy to join as well. As The Story's producers explain, "The two women talk to Dick Gordon about what it's like to ride the bus, sign a lease, and give medicine to children without knowing how to read. And they talk about how learning to read could impact every
generation in their family." You can hear their inspiring story here.
