Teen Career Academy GED Program 2007-2008 Academic Year
The Teen Career Academy at the Durham Literacy Center is a program specifically designed to help out of school youth aged 16-18 attain their General Education Development (GED) diploma and/or improve basic educational and literacy skills. All services and instruction are free.
Enrollment: Fall 2008 classes begin on Monday, August 25. Placements tests to qualify for the program will take place on Friday, July 25 and Friday, August 1. For more details and to sign up for a placement test, please call 919-489-8383, ext. 28.
Class Time: Teen Career Academy classes meet Monday through Thursday from 9:00 - 11:30 A.M. and 12:00 - 2:30 P.M.
Location: Classes are held at the John Avery Boys and Girls Club, located at 808 East Pettigrew Street.
Pre-GED and GED Classes: Based on individual reading level assessments, students will be divided into GED and Pre-GED (reading comprehension) streams. Learn more about the GED process.
Referrals: Interested students who are 18 or older should contact Durham Technical Community College at (919) 686 3636. Durham Tech has both a GED program and an Adult High School program.
Volunteer Tutors: Interested in helping a young person take a first step toward a positive future? We can use your help. Contact us and we will set up an orientation and tutor training session as soon as possible.
