We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as GED Tutors in two programs:
Adult Literacy -- Each GED Tutor is matched with an adult learner (ages 18 and up) who needs assistance preparing for one or more GED tests. The tutors specify which subjects they feel comfortable teaching and the lesson schedule that works for them - either in the morning (between 9am and 12pm) or in the evening (between 4:30pm and 8:30pm, Monday through Thursday). Tutors typically meet with students once or twice a week, for 1.5 to 2 hours per lesson. Tutor orientation/training is provided on a rolling basis.
Youth Education Program -- GED Tutors work one-on-one with teens and young adults (ages 16 to 24) preparing to pass GED or other high school equivalency tests. All lessons take place Monday through Thursday from 9am to 11:30am. Tutors can commit as little as one morning per week or as often as four times per week. Tutor orientation is provided on a rolling basis, and lesson plans are provided for each lesson.
