We have just wrapped up an exciting program year full of many successes, challenges and a changing landscape. As ever, we are extremely grateful to be part of this community of learners and supporters. We couldn't do this impactful work without you. We are completing our end-of-year data review and will share highlights later this summer.
• We are recruiting for new volunteer tutors in our Adult Literacy and ESOL Programs and are hosting Zoom Volunteer Info Sessions on August 3 (6-7pm) and August 7 (6-7pm). Please check our volunteer page on website for details on how to sign up.
• New students can register for our ESOL, Adult Literacy, and Youth Achievement (high school equivalency/GED) Programs in August. Details also found on our website or email info@durhamliteracy.org.
• We are hiring! The DLC is continually adapting to meet our goal of transforming lives through literacy. We are seeking a Director of Educational Programs with a passion for helping adults and Opportunity Youth meet their educational and career goals through literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and high school equivalency obtainment. Check out our website or click here to learn more and apply.
Lastly, we celebrate the success of our spring Leaders in Literacy benefit and send deep gratitude to our many supporters and sponsors. With your help, we raised over $160,000 for our vision that all adults have the power to change their lives and community through literacy! Donations are still coming in and I will send a final update in August.
We can't thank you enough for your support and look for much more communication from us in August and September!
Stay cool and thank you,
Lizzie Ellis-Furlong, Executive Director
